Ros is a Polish artist working with silver gelatin prints and the wet plate collodion process. With a clever use of light, Ros images are about abstraction, shape and form, things that have attracted him from the beginning. In this way, these finely composed images, are an ode to careful observation and an invitation to find beauty in the shapes that surround us.

First of all thank you very much for your contribution to our project. Can you please introduce yourself for us?

My name is Ros Khavro, I am an artist from Poland using the wet plate collodion process and analog photography. In 2017 I graduated from the social academy of sciences in Warsaw in graphics direction. I've been doing wet plate collodion and analog photography for more than 7 years now. I am mainly involved in creating handmade art photo books with original silver gelatin prints or photograms, but I also do a lot of large format silver gelatin prints. Working in a darkroom opens up a lot of new possibilities for me, it gives me a great space for creativity.

How did you start in photography?

I've had an interest in photography as an art form for long time, and over time my awareness and interest just grew.

We can see the use of shapes and abstraction in your work, what attracts you about this?

I never get tired of abstraction, and it seems always new to me.

Who are your favourite photographers / artists?

I admire the works of Bill Brandt and Brassaï. Favorite artists: Adolph Gottlieb, Mark Rothko, Edvard Munch.

What is your favourite photo book?

Bill Brandt, Nudes 1945-1980.
